Do you believe the sun causes skin cancer?
Do you believe that conventional sunscreens found on the shelves of your grocery store and pharmacy will protect you from getting skin cancer?
I bet you would be surprised to learn that melanoma diagnoses are far more prevalent in indoor workers and people who do not receive a great deal of sun exposure.
Does The Sun Cause Skin Cancer?
The simple answer is NO, the sun does not cause or contribute to your risk of developing skin cancer.
Our culture has become so afraid of the sun. This fear is detrimental to your health. The sun is incredibly healing. In fact, insufficient sun exposure has been linked to increased incidence of breast cancer, colorectal cancer, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, MS, Alzheimers, autism, asthma, type 1 diabetes, and myopia.
To learn more about the healing benefits of the sun, check out my blog 7 Keys To Unlocking The Power Of Summer Sunshine. While it is never good to get burned, conventional medicine has incorrectly linked melanoma with sun exposure.
Skin cancer is caused by a virus (typically a mutated strain of the Epstein-Barr virus, EBV) plus toxins. To dive deeper into the root cause of cancer and how it forms in your body, check out my blog What Causes Cancer.
Cancerous Chemicals In Sunscreen
Nobody wants to get burned while enjoying the sunshine, however, covering your body in conventional sunscreens actually does more harm than good. Like everything else, it is imperative to read the ingredient labels on sunscreens.
Carcinogenic and hormone-disrupting chemicals are listed as ingredients in most conventional sunscreens. These toxic chemicals are absorbed into the body and inhaled (particularly when using the popular spray sunscreen). Furthermore, once in the body, they fuel EBV – the underlying virus that causes skin cancer.
SUNSCREEN INGREDIENTS TO AVOID
Benzene | Octocrylene |
Octinoxate | Benzophenone |
Homosalate | Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) |
Octisalate | Oxybenzone |
Arobenzone | Fragrance |
The chart below shows the incidence of melanoma over time in conjunction with the usage and sales of chemical sunscreens.
Safe Sunscreen Options
If you are planning on being out in the sun for long periods of time, it is best to protect your skin. You can use clothing and hats for protection, but if you are out enjoying the water, playing sports, or you are more comfortable with less clothing there are sunscreen options available.
My favorite are Everybody Loves The Sunshine Zinc lotion, Wildcrafted Everybody Loves The Sunshine, Everybody Loves The Sunshine Zinc Beach, and RMS Beauty Coconut Oil Wipes.
Foods That Fight Skin Cancer
Your diet plays a pivotal role in the development of skin cancer. People who have the viral strain that causes cancer need to take particular care not to feed their underlying viral load. Actually, because varying strains of viruses are undetectable, we must all err on the side of caution and fuel our bodies NOT our viruses.
Eating processed foods, filled with carcinogenic chemicals is another way to feed the pathogens within and contribute to chronic illness of all kinds. The best way to fight skin cancer is to first remove the troublemaker foods that feed your underlying viral load. Begin with EGGS, dairy, wheat/gluten, corn, soy, canola oil, and natural flavors.
Once you have removed the troublemaker foods, begin to replace them with healing foods. These are a few of the foods that are specifically good for skin cancer: cherries, mangoes (try Muneeza’s Mango Cherry Sleep Smoothie), radishes, sweet potatoes, turmeric, and dandelion. The proper healing foods are incredibly powerful medicine!

The sun can harm your eyes if you look directly at it. Is Retinyl Palmitate only bad if it isn’t vegan? The chemical industry is experimenting with all kinds of GMO foods that are not organic so couldn’t any conventionally grown food potentially become GMO even if it isn’t currently? The authorities could even change the legal definition of certified organic so it could become tainted by GMOs. They can already taint organic foods by adding “natural flavors” containing MSG from GMO and cloned sources.
Yes, Ty. The sun can harm you if you look at it, but that is not a normal relationship we have with sunshine. Normally we are just out and about in the sun and our skin is exposed. That is what I am referring to.
We don’t know all the effects of RP even when it is vegan, so I cannot comment on its safety and efficacy.
Yes, the industry ‘could’ there are all kinds of things that go on in the ‘dark’ that are not disclosed to the public. I can’t speculate about that though!
