The moon has never failed to capture humanity’s attention- It is ever shifting, appearing each night in a different spot and in a different shape- it changes color, size, goes through eclipses and different super moon events throughout the year, and is intimately connected to bodies of water on earth. It is able to create ocean tides through its gravitational pull. The moon lights the sky for us at night and has stayed a peaceful and luminous celestial body for us to wonder and gaze at.
The moon also helps us keep track of time on a nightly and monthly level, women’s cycles are intimately connected to the moon, as they are often called “moon cycles,” and this is just one way that the moon is connected to fertility. Some people are more affected by the different phases of the moon than others, as the moon has the ability to pull at the water in our bodies. Its magnetic pull also has the ability to move heavy metals in our brain and as a result, it can cause emotional and sleep upheaval during the full moon phase when the magnetic pull is stronger.
However, there is a healing quality we can experience from the moon’s magnetic pull. Staying aware of this quality and connecting to it on a meditative level helps us tap into it. When we connect to it, the moon has the ability to pull out emotional hurt that keeps us moving slowly through life. Awareness of the moon helps us tap into better awareness of ourselves and the natural cycles around us.
Connecting to the moon doesn’t have to be difficult, plants grow by the cycles of the moon, some a lot more than others, and can impart those same qualities to us when we eat or drink them. This blog contains practical tips to connect more with the moon if that is your goal- learn how to lessen the effects of its gravitational pull if you are sensitive or use the moon to heal on physical and emotional levels. These tips are excerpted from health author Anthony William’s books.
Connecting With The Moon Through Food
Coconut water
Coconut water in the evening is ideal for those who have trouble sleeping during a full moon. The coconut water provides extra mineral salts and electrolytes for your neurotransmitters and electrical impulses; this helps defend you from the full moon’s subtle gravitational pull. – Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods Expanded pg. 363
You can drink bottled coconut water straight, or you can add it to smoothies. Read more about my favorite aspects of coconut water, and which recipes I use to drink more of it on my blog Coconut Water: The Healthiest Way to Hydrate!
Raspberry Leaf
Drink extra raspberry leaf tea during the full moon. This enhances its potency, because raspberry plants grow 25 percent more on full moons—and the dried leaf is still connected to these rhythms from its days attached to the cane. – Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods Expanded pg. 335
Raspberry leaf tea is amazing for the reproductive system and fertility, it is no great surprise then that this grows closely with the moon, which is closely associated with fertility. I have a few tea blends that contain raspberry leaf tea that I recommend to women at different stages of the reproductive cycle- my fertility tea and lactation tea. Raspberry leaf is perfect in both recipes.
Ginger
Drinking ginger tea during a full moon increases the medicinal effects of the ginger by 50 percent. – Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods Expanded pg. 310
Because ginger has so many amazing health benefits, and is a favorite of mine, I have created a lot different recipes for it! From salad dressing to tea, check out these resources:
- Medicinal Ginger Tea
- Homemade Ginger Garlic Paste

Tomatoes
Tomatoes grow at night, under the moonlight, and the liver also responds to moonlight—when it’s a full moon, the liver tends to work harder at cleaning, filtering, and processing in the wee hours of the morning. When organic or heirloom tomatoes are in the diet, the full moon energy that they collected during their growing cycle works with the liver’s ability to cleanse. – Medical Medium Liver Rescue pg. 296
You can find cherry tomatoes in my liver saver salad. Or, if you want something more comforting, I have a wonderful creamy roasted tomato soup that I like to pair with a gluten-free, plant-based grilled cheese sandwich.
Trace Minerals Salts
Trace Mineral Salts are not the same as the table salt you use to salt your food. These salts are magical for our health and wellbeing, both our physical and spiritual health. They are found in celery, cucumbers, leafy greens, lemons, limes, cilantro, parsley etc. You might be wondering how they can impact our spiritual health and, here is what health author Anthony William says about how they help us connect to the moon:
The trace minerals in our brain connect to our very soul. They hold information within them that connects us to the moon, the stars, the atmosphere, the ether, the heavens. It goes beyond textbook science; it’s beyond numbers, beyond right or wrong or good or bad. Trace minerals have both a physical presence and purpose and a metaphysical presence and purpose. And along with macro minerals, trace minerals were meant to be the only metals inside our brain. – Medical Medium Brain Saver pg. 40
This effect does not come from sea salt, rock salt, himalayan salt, or any other kind of topical salt. It comes only from the trace mineral salts found in natural foods. Fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, wild foods, and leafy greens are of course high in trace minerals. What stands out amongst those include:
Apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, cherries, cranberries, cucumbers, figs, gooseberries and currants, kiwis, lemons and limes, melon, oranges and tangerines, passionfruit, pears, pomegranates, strawberries, tomatoes, cabbage, arugula, kale, collard greens, brussels sprouts, broccoli greens, leafy greens, sprouts and microgreens, basil, celery, cilantro, ginger, hibiscus, lemon balm, mint, parsley, raspberry leaf tea, burdock root, coconut, nettle leaf, persimmons, rosemary, sage, thyme, asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower, cruciferous vegetables, green beans, peas, and potatoes.
Macro and trace mineral salts allow information to travel throughout the brain and body so they can try to keep themselves in balance no matter what’s occurring. They are instrumental in the electricity created by the heart and brain that governs all the other organs in the body…
…Macro and trace mineral salts are also temperature-regulating for the entire body; without them, we would feel more drastic shifts in our temperature fluctuation…. Without mineral salts, we would also be easily susceptible to dehydration, severe edema, unproductive diuretic conditions, kidney conditions, and brain conditions. They are that integral to keeping you alive and well so that you’re in the best place to deal with whatever comes your way. – Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods Expanded pg. 48

Connect To The Moon With Meditation

This meditation is especially powerful to do during key moon events- think supermoons and other powerful full moons, but don’t let that discourage you from using this meditation when you need it most. Sometimes you can see the moon during the day, that is a good time to do this meditation too.
This is a great meditation to do when you need healing on an emotional and spiritual level, or when you need help releasing something that you carry around with you. Find the Moon Meditation in the book Medical Medium Revised and Expanded, or listen to the podcast.
For those of us who experience hardships in this world—because Planet Earth is not an easy place to live—we can think of the moon as a sanctuary with no worldly troubles. This Moon Meditation connects us to the moon’s powerful ability to heal our soul.
…When we feel like anxiety is getting the best of us or depression is ruling our lives—when we feel disconnected from ourselves because we’ve been so distracted by the hurt we’ve experienced throughout our lives—we can turn to help from beyond our world. We can use the Moon Meditation to assist in pulling out the venomous poison of hurt and hardship from years past or even the present. This poison hinders us without our even realizing it. During this meditation, you’ll use the moon’s magnetic power to remove this poison from the center of your soul, which puts you back in touch with your essence. As you mend the soul fractures from hurt, pain, and suffering, your soul strengthens. It gets a new start.
…The moon has a powerful magnetic pull. This is not to be confused with the moon’s gravitational pull. The moon’s magnetic frequency is what you’re accessing in this meditation to draw out darkness and give you a fresh start. The moon’s magnetic pull affects our lives in many ways. When we are aware of how to activate its healing power, it will help us heal deep emotional wounds. -Medical Medium Revised and Expanded pg. 409-411
This meditation is helpful to help you release difficult emotions. I hope you will lean on it during a time of need. You don’t need to do it during a full or a new moon. You can do it at any time in the month.
To your health and happiness,
Muneeza
P.S….
Have you ever wanted to join a healing circle rooted in community, sisterhood, and shared humanity? I will be hosting a heart-opening gathering where women can come together to share the stories of reproductive life that shaped them—birth stories, pregnancy journeys, miscarriages, and fertility challenges. These are the tender chapters that often stay unspoken. This is a circle, held with intention, softness, and deep respect. It’s a space to be witnessed, to release, to remember, and to heal—together. Every story is welcome. Every emotion has room. Every woman is held.
