I try to have this overt fat-free hummus on hand, as it makes a delicious snack for any occasion.
Are you hosting a book club or meeting?
Do you have guests coming over?
Are your children starving when they get home from school?
This medical medium friendly recipe is incredibly versatile. It can be a casual snack or a fancy appetizer. However you choose to use it, this overt fat free hummus is always a crowd pleaser!

Overt Fat Free Hummus
Ingredients
- 2.5 Cups chickpeas (I use Jovial)
- 1 Cup zucchini chopped
- 2 limes juiced
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 2 tsp coconut aminos
- 2 cloves garlic
- ½ tsp paprika powder
- 1 cup water ice-cold
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to the blender except the ice cold water. Then start the blend.
- Add a tablespoon of ice cold water at a time, until the hummus becomes fluffy and creamy.
- The cup of water is an estimate - depending on how moist your chickpeas are you may need less or more. Feel free to use discretion here.
Make sure you keep these ingredients on hand.
Since the prep time for this recipe is very short, you can whip it up at the last minute when you are in a pinch. However, I try to keep a steady supply of overt fat free hummus in my home. It is our go-to snack with veggies.
For another variation, try my low fat oil free hummus.
Both versions of hummus are also excellent paired with my Za’atar Pita Cassava Crackers or my Garlic Maple Roasted Cauliflower!
Leave me a comment and let me know your favorite uses for hummus.
I hope you enjoy

How do you do the chickpea?? Do you use canned chick pea or you boil them ?? Or just soaked them in water overnight??
You can use either – canned or boiled. It does not matter. You can soak them overnight if you like.
Do you rinse the chickpeas before adding to the blender?
Ali, usually yes I do.
Hi, thanks for the recipe, would it be a good idea to peel the zucchini before adding it to the blender?
Yes! You can peel before adding. I only peel if I have time, otherwise I just put it in without peeling
