Liver Saver Salad

Liver Saver Salad

Liver Saver Salad

This Liver Saver Salad is a simple staple for me.  I turn to this salad often as it is easy to assemble and can be prepped ahead of time.  Furthermore, these are ingredients I almost always have at home.

While I wing this liver saver salad with an approximation of ingredients, each ingredient is critical for the liver. The most powerful liver foods in this salad are cauliflower, asparagus, cabbage, red apples, and hot peppers!

Cauliflower

Crucifers, such as cauliflower, have the ability to ignite hidden cleansing and healing abilities in other foods when eaten in combination.  Cauliflower is extremely nutrient-rich and contains high quantities of vitamin C, K, and B-complex and minerals such as boron, calcium, molybdenum, and tryptophan.  Additionally, cauliflower contains powerful anti-cancer compounds such as indole-3-carbinol and sulforaphane, and is an effective detoxifier of the liver.

Red Cabbage

There are incredible phytochemical compounds that live in the pigmentation of red cabbage.  The sulfur in the red cabbage carries these compounds to the liver to fight disease.  This makes red cabbage one of the most rejuvenating foods for the liver.  In addition, red cabbage can help stop and reverse scar tissue in the liver.

Asparagus

The high chlorophyll and lutein content in asparagus make this vegetable a critical organ cleanser.  These phytochemical compounds go deep into the liver, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys to clear out toxins that may have taken up residence.

Additionally, some of the phytochemicals in asparagus are actually toxin inhibitors.  Meaning, that once toxins have been driven out of organs such as the liver, specialized phytochemicals stay behind and prevent new toxins from entering.

Red Apples

Apples, particularly red apples, are a very alkaline fruit that has the ability to quench thirst on a cellular level by providing living water to support the liver’s ability to hydrate.

Equally important, the fruit acids in apples (both malic and tartaric acids) help cleanse the liver by dispersing toxic films that build up inside the liver’s storage banks.  Furthermore, apples starve out bacteria, yeast, mold, other funguses, and viruses from the liver. This makes red apples an incredible liver detoxifier.

Hot Peppers

Did you know that hot peppers actually stimulate a stagnant liver?

Some of my favorite hot peppers are cayenne, habanero, jalapeno, poblano, bird’s eye, and super chili.  These peppers have incredible healing properties as they contain dozens of phytochemical compounds that are helpful for the liver.  For example, the compound capsaicin enables the liver to heat itself without negative effects.  The liver welcomes the heat that is initiated by hot peppers because it helps to create a reset.

How does this liver reset occur?

A liver reset occurs when heat is initiated by capsaicin instantly throughout the liver.  This influx of fresh blood helps the liver fight inflammation caused by toxins and pathogens. Learn why supporting your liver is essential for good health and quality of life in Liver Rescue.

If you are indulging in the summer this liver saver salad can save you during the day, as it is packed with liver-saving ingredients.
