Medical Medium® healing broth is the most medicinal broth on the planet. However, when I make it for my children, they don’t like to sip on it plain. I wanted to be able to get it in their bodies, so we had to come up with a way that maintained the healing integrity of the broth but was also palatable for my little crew.
Enter the amazing, multi-purpose, healing steamed potato. With the addition of steamed potatoes or steamed peas to the finished broth (add as many as you want), my girls are happy and so am I.
Why is this broth so incredible? Just take a look at all of the incredible healing properties of the foods used to make it…
Carrots
Carrots refuel the liver with the essential glucose and vitamins it needs. They also inhibit the growth of unfriendly microorganisms and rejuvenate your hair, skin, and nails.
Celery
Celery is such a powerful herb Anthony dedicated an entire book to its miraculous healing ability; Celery Juice, The Most Powerful Medicine Of Our Time. Here are 10 of this herb’s critical health benefits:
Shiitake Mushrooms
Known as the “miracle mushroom,” shiitake mushrooms have incredible immune-boosting properties. They contain all of the eight essential amino acids (B12, A, D, C, etc).
Shiitake mushrooms also contain interferons which are strong antivirals. Interferons help to inhibit the reproduction of viruses, bacteria, and parasites. These powerful mushrooms have been shown to help improve heart disease, and auto-immune disorders such as AIDS, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, fibrocystic breast disease, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia. They are also powerful blood healers and can help regulate blood pressure, lower blood cholesterol, thin the blood, and help prevent heart attacks and strokes.
Onions
Onions contain sulfur compounds that strengthen the immune system, brain, and nervous system. These compounds also help to detoxify heavy metals from the body such as mercury, cadmium, and lead.
Furthermore, onions are the highest food source of quercetin, a potent antioxidant that can help prevent blood clots, asthma, sinus infections, bronchitis, atherosclerosis, and diabetes.
Parsley
Parsley is the most amazing alkalizing herb. It is alkalizing to all of the body systems. Parsley is the most powerful weapon for fighting acidosis.
“Parsley’s specialized mineral salts bind onto unproductive acids in the body to drive them out. This alkalizing skill makes parsley helpful for preventing and battling every type of cancer.”
-Anthony William, The Healing Power Of Parsley Blog
Packed full of nutrition such as B vitamins like folic acid, traces of B12 coenzymes, and vitamins A, C, and K, parsley fights all pathogens and keeps bacteria, parasites, and fungus at bay. Additionally, parsley helps to remineralize the body as it is packed with trace minerals such as magnesium, sulfur, iron, zinc, manganese, molybdenum, chromium, selenium, iodine, and calcium.
One of the most incredible properties of this miracle herb is its chelation effect. Parsley has the ability to pull stores of herbicides and pesticides such as DDT.
Growing parsley doesn’t require much tending – in fact, it’s practically a wild food and can handle colder weather, making it adaptogenic in nature.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are such a powerful healing food. They contain their own variety of vitamin C that is bioavailable to the liver and lymphatic system. Tomatoes also support the immune system, helping it to remain strong to fight pathogens.
Tomatoes contain fruit acids that help rid sludge from the gallbladder and reduce the size of gallstones, helping to keep the gallbladder healthy. The mineral content in tomatoes is abundant, these can reach the deep inner core of the liver, helping to prevent disease where it commonly begins. Additionally, tomatoes are high in lycopene which is a favorite nutrient of the liver. The liver uses lycopene to prevent cell damage and to help detox red blood cells safely.
“Tomatoes grow at night, under the moonlight, and the liver also responds to moonlight—when it’s a full moon, the liver tends to work harder at cleaning, filtering, and processing in the wee hours of the morning. When organic or heirloom tomatoes are in the diet, the full moon energy that they collected during their growing cycle works with the liver’s ability to cleanse.”
-Anthony William, Fresh Salsa Blog
Garlic
The addition of garlic, onions, and cilantro makes this dish an incredible powerhouse against pathogens. Not to mention, garlic contains impressive antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-cancer, and anti-viral properties.
“One raw crushed clove of garlic contains the antibiotic equivalent of 100,000 units of penicillin and has been proven to be more effective than both penicillin and tetracycline in suppressing certain types of disease-carrying agents.”
Anthony William, Life-Changing Foods
Ginger
Ginger contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols that reduce pain, inflammation, and swelling. While ginger is an amazing spice that naturally heals both inflammation and infection, ginger is best known for its incredible ability to heal digestive upset and nausea. For centuries, ginger has been used to safely ease indigestion, menstrual cramps, motion sickness, and heartburn. Isn’t it amazing that a spice we take for granted to give a warm, deliciously spicy flavor to our foods can contain so many healing properties?
Turmeric
Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiseptic, and anti-depressant. The primary component in turmeric is curcumin. Curcumin has incredible anti-cancer properties and has been shown to help prevent and inhibit prostate, skin, colon, mouth, esophageal, lung, stomach, pancreatic, liver, and breast cancer.
Turmeric is a powerful healing tool. It has been known to help purify blood, soothe respiratory conditions, improve liver function, support the circulatory system, regulate menstrual cycles, prevent cognitive diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer’s, and heal gastrointestinal disorders.
As a powerful anti-inflammatory, turmeric has been shown to help significantly reduce the inflammation associated with arthritis and other auto-immune diseases such as lupus, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Additionally, turmeric is wonderful for digestion and helps the body to digest fats/proteins while also helping to regulate blood sugar.
One of the most well-known properties of turmeric is its anti-aging effects. Due to the significant amount of antioxidants, turmeric has a fountain-of-youth quality – very beneficial to the skin.
Hot Pepper
Hot Peppers are very healing to the body. They are generally high in vitamin C and they help a lot with colds, flu, and bronchitis. They also boost circulation (ever seen someone get red in their face after eating a hot pepper?) and help with the heart as well. Hot peppers can help to create hydrochloric acid in the stomach and can stimulate peristaltic motion of the gut – think, have you ever needed to ‘go’ after eating hot peppers?
