I absolutely love wild blueberries! They have such a bright, sweet flavor and a vivid color; they truly dress up any meal they are added to whether to a fresh salad, a warm breakfast, or even yummy smoothies. They’re an excellent snack on their own, too, and make a great afternoon snack when paired with some almonds or coconut milk yogurt.
What makes wild blueberries even better is they are part of Medical Medium ® Top 10 Superfoods because they are absolutely packed with health benefits that range from preventing cancer to slowing the aging process to even supporting eye health!
First, before I go into all the benefits of wild blueberries, I want to clarify that wild blueberries are different than the large, farm-grown blueberries you may find in the produce section of the grocery store. Wild blueberries are small, sweet, and have much more nutritional and healing benefits! If you don’t have wild blueberries fresh in your produce department or locally grown, check your grocer’s freezer section for them.
Medical Medium ® recommends adding wild blueberries to your diet once a week, because they are so delicious, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble including them weekly!
Wild Blueberries are:
- Loaded with powerful antioxidants and flavonoids
- An excellent source of fiber
- A great source of Vitamin C and K
- An incredible way to get manganese, lutein, and gallic acid
Because wild blueberries are so full of antioxidants, vitamins, and nutrients, scientists are busy researching their positive healing effects on brain activity, gut health, heart disease, and many other diseases and illnesses!
We know the antioxidants combat free radical cellular growth which supports overall health in addition to preventing cancer, autoimmune disease, and other serious chronic health concerns. We know the fiber in wild blueberries supports vascular and digestive health, and the vitamins K and C support immune health.
Wild blueberries are also a vital component to detoxing and cleansing your body. This delicious superfood cleanses the liver, allowing your body to flush toxins from your system.
For anyone struggling with the following health issues, add wild blueberries into your diet to support healing from the following issues:
- Inflammation
- Cancer
- Slow the effects of aging
- Diabetes
- Eye health and vision concerns
- Digestive illness
- Autoimmune disorder
