Here we go again.
Another new mystery bug that is raising alarms around the world – first in China, and now in the United States.
What is white lung syndrome, and how can we boost our immune systems to avoid it?
WHAT IS WHITE LUNG?
White lung is more of a symptom than a condition. The cause for “white lung” is scarring of the lung tissue, causing the lungs to appear white on medical scans. Essentially, pneumonia causes an immune storm in the lungs, leading to scarring and massive amounts of mucus formation.
What’s less clear is the source of the pneumonia – is it viral? Is it bacterial? What is going on here?
“In western Massachusetts, physicians are noticing an increase in cases of walking pneumonia, [- “walking” because people who catch it can still mostly go about their daily lives; it’s a milder illness that does not require hospitalization -] which is being caused by a mixture of bacterial and viral infections,” the Daily Mail reports.
So, in Massachusetts, there is no clear cause between bacteria and viruses.
According to Dr. Kristin Englund, an infectious disease specialist at the Cleveland Clinic, told NewsNation’s Morning in America, “What this seems to be is a very common bacteria that we see year after year called mycoplasma pneumonia.”
Dr. Englund believes this is bacterial business as usual. But I’m not convinced.
Ohio was the first state in the U.S. to report an outbreak of the illness, with an ‘extremely high’ number of children being hospitalized.
According to a release from Ohio state health officials, over 140 pediatric cases of this condition have appeared within just a few months’ time in a single county. Are we on the verge of another severe respiratory illness?
Now, doctors in Massachusetts are also reporting a significant jump in cases of child pneumonia. Clearly, this is NOT business as usual.

BEATING WHITE LUNG BEFORE IT STARTS
There are ways to get ahead of this illness so that you and your family can avoid the worst outcomes. And it starts by understanding what causes mucus to build up in the body.
Many of us walk around with increased amounts of pus and mucus in our bodies due to a stagnant and sluggish liver and lymphatic system. Increased pus from toxins in the liver and lymph (when the liver weakens over time, the lymph often picks up the slack and holds toxins there) makes it harder for mucus caused by pathogens to leave the body. Increased levels of pus and mucus thicken our body fluids, making them harder to move through vessels.
In other words, unless we consistently hydrate and cleanse our livers and bodies, we’re susceptible to higher amounts of pus and mucus and, therefore, more vulnerable when respiratory illnesses that cause mucus come around.
Reduce mucus-forming foods like eggs, cheese, butter, milk, and all other forms of dairy. Other foods to avoid include gluten, canola oil, soy, and any GMO foods. Do your best to reduce or eliminate foods with their primary caloric source from fats (animal protein, animal products, nuts and nut butter, tahini, avocado) for at least the first half of the day. If you are dealing with lots of mucus, avoid grains of any kind, including gluten-free. If you catch this bug, it’s best to stay on a primarily liquid diet of broth, juices, water, and coconut water, so that your fluids and mucus remain thin and easy to cough or expectorate out of the body.
Bringing in hydrating and cleansing beverages like plain celery juice and plain cucumber juice can offer huge support to our bodies if we’re walking around with a backed-up system.
CALMING THE CYTOKINE STORM
If you happen to get exposed to white lung syndrome, walking pneumonia, any other pneumonia, RSV, or any other respiratory virus, there is a lot you can do to overcome these bugs and get back on your feet quickly.
Mucus forms as a result of cytokine battles happening between pathogens and immune cells in the body. The debris from this immune battle is mucus. You want to minimize that cytokine storm by boosting your immune system with powerful tools from Nature designed to strengthen our bodies.

With any internal scarring, especially with the lungs, bringing in a highly bioavailable form of vitamin C that is not harsh on the stomach will help to heal scarring and damaged tissue as the body recovers. The white lung virus can cause scar tissue to show up in the lungs. When mysterious scar tissue shows up anywhere in the body, like in the liver or in the lungs and lymphatic system, often it is caused by viruses like Epstein Barr.
Bacteria can also cause scar tissue like acne scarring or scarring in the bladder and intestinal tract. Some of the best ways to prevent and heal scar tissue are to eat lots of sweet potatoes daily and include foods like aloe vera and supplements like ALA, MSM, nettle leaf, silica, vitamin C (I love the Vimergy Micro C powder as it comes with bamboo silica for skin and scar healing), spirulina, turmeric, and chaga.
A high-quality liquid zinc sulfate should be part of your daily preventative protocol to avoid cold and flu season this year (and every year).
You will hear a lot about mycoplasma as the media describes this bug that’s going around, but the cause is actually viral. L-lysine is critical for antiviral support against any viral infection.
The Medical Medium Shock Therapies are a very helpful tool to battle acute viral infections. He talks about these therapies in his book, Brain Saver Protocols and Recipes. Shock therapies are herbs and supplements used in higher dosages throughout the day for 3-5 days at a time to battle an immediate acute infection. You can do more than one shock therapy on any given day as long as they are spaced 15 m apart from each other. Refer to Brain Saver Protocols and Recipes for adult and child dosages.
