I absolutely love this hot apple-elderberry-chaga cider and it is a perfectly delicious and smooth pick me up on a cold winter night. Enjoy a cup alone or share the comfort of this warm beverage. The combination of these ingredients creates a powerful elixir to help heal your body, and keep away those pesky winter illnesses – what better way to keep your immune system strong!
Elderberries are one of the most effective remedies for viral and bacterial infections such as colds or the flu. I use Chaga powder from Vimergy, which is linked below. Cinnamon is very helpful in reducing inflammation, and in helping to regulate blood sugar levels.
Hot Apple-Elderberry-Chaga Cider
- 4 cups apple cider (preferably organic, with no additives)
- 1 cup elderberries (or 6 tbsp elderberry syrup)
- 1 tbsp chaga powder
- 3 cinnamon sticks (additional ones to serve)
Bring all the ingredients to a boil. And then turn down to a simmer for about an hour. Once the elderberries have softened, you can strain the berries out and serve with a fresh cinnamon stick.

Are the elderberries dried? I have fresh from my garden but I think they need to be dried or cooked before eaten. Correct? I am making the MM
elderberry syrup with mine but will save some out for this recipe.
Thanks.
Jean, in this recipe, yes. They are very bitter by themselves. So drying and then making it into a recipe like this is helpful!
