4 Green Juice Recipes To Energize You Through The Holidays

If you find yourself indulging this holiday season, or have no choice but to be around food-centered festivities, I have compiled a list of green juice recipes that I think will help add a boost of nutrition and hydration to your day. Despite our best efforts we can give into cravings or find ourselves unprepared with our own foods… and we all are human and we all have to eat. When you know the second half of your day will bring more indulgences around a party or the like, bringing in a green juice can be a soothing and healing addition to your day.

Most people can continue their morning routine and Medical Medium Morning Cleanse easily, and I would recommend committing and continuing these healthy habits through the holiday season. Nowadays, even if you cannot make a juice yourself, there are so many juice bars nationwide in the USA, but also many are available internationally as well. One of the must-dos on my list when traveling is to locate local juice bars.

Green juices are a nice way to keep some more healing foods in the diet when it might be harder to make something else for a party or if you’re choosing to partake (no judgement). To keep balance, I would recommend consuming at least one green juice per day (this would be in addition to your morning celery juice, if you are doing that). These recipes are also kid-friendly and would be a great way to support your kids through the holidays, too.

The following juices have a nice balance of glucose and mineral salts. Some are very easy to make (coconut water spirulina, for example) and some take more work, but they are worth the time. My juice for cravings is one that I have leaned on for years- when I was juicing for 60 days years ago or to push away a craving when I was adjusting my diet and protocols and trying to get myself on track.

1. Pineapple Cilantro

This recipe was inspired by reading that pineapples push out fat cells from the liver. For me, healing my liver has been a big priority for years. So I started to bring in more pineapple into my diet. Even in the colder months, green juices with fruits are so much easier to get down than salads.

Pineapples also help expel mucus and other debris out of your liver and dissolve gallstones. Cilantro is a powerful herb that drives toxic heavy metals out of your body- your brain in particular. This function is driven by phytochemicals that target these metals. The mineral salts in its leaf and stem has the ability to travel through your brain, lymph, and spinal fluid because of its ability to join other salts in the bloodstream. Read more about these foods in Life-Changing Foods Expanded!

For this recipe I recommend juicing the cilantro through first and the pineapple second. This helps your juicer process the herb’s juice.

Recipe:
1 pineapple
1 bunch of cilantro

2. Pear Cucumber Ginger Arugula

The first time I juiced pears I fell in love. They are similar to but taste so much different than apples. And when I was juicing long term years ago (not something I recommend), I went on a kick of pear juices for a while. I found that my stomach loved the pears and felt very soothed and settled after drinking a juice with pears in it. For this juice, you have to make sure that the pears are ripe. When pears are ripe, they become deliciously soft.

Pears are excellent for digestion as they are an antispasmodic, meaning they help soothe the linings of the stomach and intestinal tract, and drive out unbeneficial pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungus. Pears will also help restore the linings of your digestions that have become damaged from pathogens and will help to prevent intestinal and stomach cancers. Pear juice is high in mineral salts and will help to balance your blood sugar.

Pears have an appetite curbing effect and are recommended for weight loss as they help cleanse and purify your liver. All of these benefits make pear juice a great idea to include in your diet when you need a pick-me-up during the holidays!

Recipe:
2 pears
1 English cucumber (long) or two if smaller in size
1 inch knob of ginger
6 celery stalks
3 packed cups of arugula

3. Juice for Cravings- Spinach Kale Apple Parsley Lemon Ginger

Years ago when I started juicing, I couldn’t figure out how to quell my cravings for just about everything under the sun. So I started to add ginger to my juices and that trick worked. This recipe came from mostly finding a palatable way to get greens in and here it is! I pretty much raised my kids on this green juice recipe and today they still get this juice about 5 days of the week.

Ginger is a powerful way to get in a lot of amino acids, enzymes and coenzymes into your body. If you lead a busy life, bringing in ginger will help pass the effects of stress on a physiological and emotional level. Its antipathogenic qualities make it a great addition to juice as it boosts your immune system.

Parsley has a lot of powerful qualities that help enrich this juice- it is high in minerals, mineral salts, is extremely alkalizing, and fights pathogens. When you combine these qualities with the other ingredients in this recipe you have a high mineral, high electrolyte blend that feeds your body on a deep cellular level!

Use this juice to help with cravings. Add more apples if you are craving sweets, add more greens and lemon if you are craving savory foods.

Recipe:
1 Lemon
2 apples
1 inch knob of ginger
2 cup of kale
2 cup spinach
1 cup parsley

4. Coconut Water Spirulina – A special drink for birth & labor

I drank this juice when I was in active labor with my youngest daughter and couldn’t eat, it picked up my energy levels every time I needed it to. It is quick to put together- just mix the spirulina in with the coconut water and drink! It is so nourishing. The coconut water offers electrolytes and glucose, while the spirulina acts like a multivitamin with mineral salts and bio-available protein. Adding it to coconut water boosts its nutrition and the glucose content helps drive nutrients into the cells of your body- spirulina has a hunger curbing, blood sugar balancing effect, making this a great addition to the holiday season.

According to Medical Medium Thyroid Healing, Spirulina is great at helping to rebuild your nervous system, starves Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) of toxic heavy metals, and helps your thyroid by feeding it micronutrients, arming it against EBV, and reducing the growth of nodules, tumors, and cysts. Drinking this before a party would help prepare for whatever was to come your way!

Recipe:
16 oz coconut water
1 tsp spirulina

I also have a FREE 3-day juice cleanse, which would be another great way to reset after an indulgent Thanksgiving. If you find yourself straying from your routines more around this time with holiday foods this juice cleanse is meant to help you get back on track. It is called The Intuitive 3-Day Mindfulness Juice Cleanse. This cleanse download guides you through three days of juice cleansing using Medical Medium principles. Learn more about it here!
