  • In a small bowl, combine the poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dried garlic, and dried onion.
  • Stir until well combined.
  • Store in a sealed container.

If you are a fan of everything bagels or just love Trader Joe’s everything bagel seasoning, you will love being able to whip up your own batch…salt-free.

It is super simple to make and incredibly healing – you will want to put it in “everything.”

Poppy Seeds

Poppy seeds are a wonderful source of omega-3 fatty acids and also contain an abundance of other essential minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium, and copper. These minerals help boost the immune system, strengthen bones, and build healthy blood. Additionally, poppy seeds help lower LDL (“bad cholesterol”) and raise HDL (“good cholesterol”) as they contain generous amounts of oleic acid. This oleic acid also benefits the cardiovascular system and can help prevent heart issues such as strokes and heart attacks.

These small but mighty seeds contain alkaloids that can help ease neurological disorders, relax muscles, calm the mind, reduce pain, and help with a full and restful night’s sleep.

Furthermore, poppy seeds contain potent enzymes that can help aid in digestion and assimilation, making them an ideal meal topper…especially delicious sprinkled over top of a salad.

Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds are considered a high-energy food that help with overall health and wellness. They are a fantastic source of bio-available protein, which the body needs for growth (particularly beneficial for children in this regard). They also have a high mineral content, containing calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, and selenium.

The high calcium content provides other benefits as well – it can help ease the effects of migraines, aid in weight loss, and provide relief from PMS.

Sesame seeds can be a helpful addition for somebody suffering from arthritis and fibromyalgia, as the copper in sesame seeds offers anti-inflammatory benefits, helping to reduce swelling.

Additionally, sesame seeds contain “sesame-lignin,” which is a powerful antioxidant and actively hunts free radicals. Plus, with a high vitamin E content, sesame seeds have long been hailed as an ancient beauty treatment for healthy skin, hair, and nails.

Garlic

Garlic is highly medicinal!

Additionally, garlic contains very strong antibiotic, anti-fungal, anti-cancer, and anti-viral properties. The allicin in garlic has been proven to lower cholesterol and blood pressure significantly. With strong anti-inflammatory properties, this tiny herb is critical for healing from autoimmune diseases.

Onion

Onions contain sulfur compounds that strengthen the immune system, brain, and nervous system. These compounds also help to detoxify heavy metals from the body such as mercury, cadmium, and lead.

Furthermore, onions are the highest food source of quercetin, a potent antioxidant that can help prevent blood clots, asthma, sinus infections, bronchitis, atherosclerosis, and diabetes.

In my house, everything bagel seasoning is a favorite go-to for adding extra flavor to things like:
Steamed potatoes
Tomato slices
Roasted vegetables
Hummus
Guacamole
…and so much more!
