Banana Nice Cream

Banana Nice Cream

Banana nice cream is one of the most healing, nutritious, and simple desserts you will ever make!

Most people associate a banana with potassium.  While it is a wonderful source of potassium, the banana offers so much more.

Nutrition Information

A banana contains about 76% water, making it a fantastic electrolyte food.  They are also packed with vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, B6, potassium, copper, and manganese.  A high glucose content makes bananas an excellent brain food and muscle builder.  So as you can imagine, bananas are a perfect food for an athlete – they replenish energy and instantly revitalize the body.

Bananas are a great option to take on the go – easy to stick in any purse or bag without worrying about a mess.

This incredible fruit contains very strong antifungal and antibiotic compounds, and has the ability to stop a virus in its tracks due to protease inhibitors. Furthermore, bananas promote nutrient absorption and assimilation due to high levels of fructooligosaccharides (FOS). In addition, they support the natural bacteria in the bowel, which keeps your digestive tract healthy and immune system strong.

How To Pick The Perfect Banana

Bananas should be ripe when consumed…so how do you know when a banana is ripe?  How can you pick the perfect banana?

The key to picking the perfect banana is the peel.  You want the banana peel to be lightly speckled.  These speckles indicate a sweet, creamy taste.  If there is still any green on the banana, it is best to avoid.  Because when a banana is not yet ripe, it can cause constipation and other adverse reactions.

Banana nice cream may be the most simple dessert you can make, yet also the biggest crowd pleaser.

Ingredient

4 ripe bananas

Directions

  • Remove bananas from freezer

  • Cut frozen bananas into a few pieces (about 3-4”)

  • Place banana pieces into the food processor and pulse to combine.

  • Begin to process continually, but add water by the Tablespoon, as needed until you have a thick, creamy, and smooth consistency.

  • Place nice cream in a freezer proof bowl, and then out that bowl in the freezer and let set for about 15-20 minutes

Other Options

There is no shortage of options for adding a twist to this simple dish.  Other options include, but are not limited to, adding wild blueberries or any other fruit of your choice.  You can even make a sauce with another fruit and drizzle it over top of the nice cream – check out Medical Medium’s Strawberry Nice Cream blog for sauce instructions.

The possibilities with this Medical Medium friendly dessert are endless.  I look forward to hearing from you about your own nice cream creations.  Please leave me a comment letting me know your most delicious and creative nice cream recipes.

  1. Hi Muneeza! (Saw you on Amy today! 🙂 My husband is diabetic and concerned about sugar in bananas – this is not an issue is it? I think it’s worth eating because of the benefits – and I love how simple this recipe is – banana “nice” cream – love it 🙂

    1. The sugars found in fruit are entirely different from those found in processed foods, like High Fructose Corn Syrup or beet sugar. It comes in a package with water, fiber, vitamins, minerals, etc. Ask your husband’s doctor to show you the research that proves that eating fruit makes you more insulin resistant. They don’t have the research to back this up. Studies have confirmed the opposite: the more fruit you eat and the lower your fat and protein, you can completely reverse insulin resistance and bring A1c and sugars back to normal. Check out on IG @mindfuldiabeticrobby and @masteringdiabetes for more information on this approach to healing diabetes. Robby is a Type 1 diabetic and only eats fruits and greens. His results are phenomenal.
