The Incredible Healing Benefits of Fresh Ginger

One of my favorite spices to use is freshly grated ginger – it’s incredibly versatile, I can add it to sweet or savory dishes, soups, or drinks, and the warm spicy flavor just adds so much depth to a recipe. The best thing about ginger is not the flavor, though. It’s actually, just as versatile as a medicinal spice and has so many benefits that it is a Medical Medium® Top 10 Superfood! Ginger has been used since ancient times for its healing properties. Originally cultivated in China, it became popular in Southeast Asia and India for medicinal purposes before being brought to Europe in the First Century. Ginger was used for whole healing – the body, mind, and spirit – and was thought to awaken and purify.  It’s amazing that ancient healers knew what so many of us ignore today – that ginger is a powerful, natural healing spice that boosts the immune system and has incredible antibiotic properties. Medicinal Ginger Tea

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 2 inch piece of fresh, raw ginger
  • 2-3 cups of water
  • Raw honey
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions:
Grate the ginger into the water and let it steep for 10 to 20 minutes. Strain the ginger from the water and stir in raw honey and fresh lemon juice. You can enjoy this beverage either hot or cold.
