A diagnosis of endometriosis can be devastating.
A feeling of relief may come from receiving a medical diagnosis when facing endometriosis symptoms, but along with that diagnosis comes very difficult news for women hoping to experience pregnancy. According to this medical journal, up to half of women who experience endometriosis also experience infertility.
It’s estimated that 6-10% of the global female population has endometriosis symptoms, making endometriosis a serious challenge for human reproductive health.
But what’s causing endometriosis, and why doesn’t the mainstream offer us any clear answers as to what we can do to overcome it?
There are over a dozen theories about what causes endometriosis, from the familiar but false autoimmune and genetics theories to environmental toxins.
Let’s examine what is really going on with endometriosis and how to empower women to regain their reproductive health.
ENDOMETRIOSIS: WHAT WE KNOW
Let’s start with the most basic question: What is endometriosis?
“Endometriosis” literally means inflammation of the endometrium. So what’s the endometrium?
The endometrium is a thin layer of tissue that envelopes the uterus. Throughout a woman’s reproductive cycle, the endometrium expands and creates optimal conditions for a fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine lining. In pregnancy, the tissue of the endometrium forms part of the placenta.
Without fertilization, the endometrium is shed during menstruation before regenerating in a new cycle. The endometrium makes up the blood and tissues that leave a woman’s body during menstruation.
A diagnosis of endometriosis essentially says there is inflammation in the endometrium, but it doesn’t tell us much more. Modern medicine has observed that in cases of endometriosis, the endometrium grows in abnormal ways that appear to happen outside the uterus.
This is a clue as to what’s really going on. More on that later.
TREATMENT FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS
Modern medicine observes that the endometrium is inflamed, leading to common symptoms like fertility issues, intense pain in the abdomen and lower back during menstruation or between menstrual cycles, fatigue, irregular periods, migraines, and more.
Conventional medicine doesn’t offer a clear root cause of endometriosis and believes that there is no cure for endometriosis. Millions of women have been given a diagnosis of incurable endometriosis before receiving management options like minor surgery, pharmaceutical hormones, pain medication, and hysterectomy for women who do not wish to conceive.
It is shocking to me that modern medicine’s answer to endometriosis is to surgically remove the entire uterus rather than explore holistic treatment options that may address the true causes of endometriosis and bring relief.
THE TRUE CAUSE OF ENDOMETRIOSIS
Anthony William is a holistic health author who has helped millions of people recover from chronic health conditions of every kind through nutrition-based healing and cleansing protocols.
In his book Cleanse to Heal, William describes what causes the endometrium to appear inflamed and grow abnormal tissue.
Viruses and bacteria feed on sources that include foreign hormones from animal products and synthetic, manufactured sources to which we’re commonly exposed, often via our food, water, laundry and cleaning products, perfumes and colognes, air fresheners, scented candles, pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, plastics, and more.
The byproduct that these pathogens produce in and around the female reproductive system activates and prompts abnormal tissue growth in order to trap and encase this toxic byproduct so it doesn’t injure the uterus and other critical parts of the reproductive system.
So, endometriosis is caused by viral and bacterial pathogens that feed on synthetic hormones and toxins, such as harmful chemicals, scents, and heavy metals, in our environment.
When these pathogens produce toxic byproducts, our bodies form abnormal tissue to encase those toxins to protect our reproductive system.
It’s amazing how simple this explanation is and how true it feels. So what can a woman who has received a diagnosis of endometriosis do to overcome her condition and recover her reproductive and overall health?
FREEDOM FROM ENDOMETRIOSIS
There is a 4-step path that I have seen transform the lives of women who experience endometriosis symptoms.
I understand the natural skepticism many women have when they hear that there are solutions available to them after their doctor says their condition is incurable. Still, I can tell you from experience that this path has the potential to bring relief you never thought was possible.
Step 1: Take away the troublemakers.
Certain foods are unhealthy for the body and often fuel viral and bacterial pathogens to grow. Avoiding these foods is essential when experiencing chronic symptoms, especially endometriosis symptoms.
Foods to avoid: Eggs, animal dairy in all forms (cheese, milk, butter, cream cheese, etc.), gluten, corn and soy (which are almost always contaminated by GMOs), MSG, natural and artificial flavors, canola oil, citric acid, beet sugar, and farmed fish.
This list can feel overwhelming for someone not accustomed to avoiding certain foods or asking restaurant kitchens about ingredients when eating out.
You don’t have to be perfect from step one. Do your best to remove one at a time at a pace that’s comfortable for you. If your symptoms are more severe, you may want to try to avoid these foods more urgently.
It’s also crucial to avoid exposure to toxins as much as possible. This includes chemical-based perfumes, commercial air freshener products, conventional hair dyes, pesticide-treated produce, drinking or eating from metal cans, copper IUDs, wifi and Bluetooth radiation, and more.
Cosmetics are a common source of toxic exposure for women worldwide. Read my blog, 10 Reasons Clean Beauty is Not A Myth, for a deep dive into how to move to a toxin-free beauty regimen.
Step 2: Build the immune system.
Since viral and bacterial pathogens are the true engine behind endometriosis symptoms, we must strengthen our immune system to knock those pathogens down in our bodies.
Some of the most powerful herbs to support the immune system are lemon balm, licorice root, nettle leaf, self-heal, olive leaf, mullein, meadowsweet, peppermint, and all of the aromatic herbs, including rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sage.
Red raspberry leaf is a fantastic tea for reproductive health that will complement any immune strengthening you’re doing with other herbs. Red clover is a powerhouse lymph cleanser that supports your entire body.
You can eat these herbs fresh with meals, juice them with other fruits and veggies, make an herbal tea, or take them as a supplemental tincture. I like to bring several herbs in each day for wide-ranging immune support.
Essential immune-boosting supplements are vitamin C, zinc, L-lysine,
A final tip to strengthen your immune system and your body’s ability to cleanse toxins is to reduce your dietary fats by at least half. Increased fat in the bloodstream reduces blood oxygen, which depletes the organs and bogs down the liver, heart, and immune system. Reducing fat intake can help to make the body more resilient on all levels.
Step 3: Fill the body with healing nutrition.
Fresh fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, herbs, and pure spices are the most healing foods on Earth.
Due to influencers and nutrition-focused companies, we often think that a superfood is necessary for health and strength. But melons, papayas, bananas, apples, grapes, cherries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, winter squash, peas, and dates offer incredible benefits for replenishing our bodies so that they can overcome anything we might face.
As you remove foods that do not create ideal health within your body, replace them with new meals packed full of healing nutrition. Step 4: Cleanse toxins.
We clean our kitchens, bathrooms, and clothes, but how often do we cleanse our bodies—the most important possession we have in life?
Some influencers mistakenly believe that our bodies cleanse themselves naturally and don’t need any help detoxifying. While this may have been partially true thousands of years ago, before industry and chemicals entered the scene, it’s certainly not true now.
Every day, we are exposed to heavy metals, toxic chemicals like pesticides and fragrances, radiation, old toxins from the past like DDT, and more. In order to help our bodies adapt, we need to bring in cleansing protocols that safely and effectively flush toxic substances from our livers – the body’s filter and toxic storage unit.
The most effective cleanse protocols I have encountered are found in the books written by Anthony William, the Medical Medium. If you choose one book to start your cleansing journey, go for Cleanse to Heal, which includes several cleanse options with different benefits to help your body recover.
I especially recommend the mono-eating cleanse, and any of the liver rescue 369 cleanses to jumpstart your body’s resilience and move toward healing in a way you may not have thought possible. cleanse protocols
Step 5: Heal your whole being.
The final piece that I believe is essential to any healing journey is all about restoring your mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Chronic illness often creates stress and trauma that need to be unpacked and resolved in order to truly move forward.
Women who receive an endometriosis diagnosis may give up on dreams of having a family or believe they are doomed to a life of chronic pain. This creates trauma and a rift between a woman and her reproductive system that needs to be healed.
Women who experience any chronic illness connected to their reproductive system are in need of holistic healing of mind, heart, and spirit, as these symptoms target the core of our femininity. It’s crucial to surround yourself with women who understand what you’ve been through or who have the capacity for unconditional love and compassion to help you regain your feminine power.
For these reasons, I created programs like Bloom and Blossom to focus specifically on empowering women with healing information, community, and support to overcome anything they may be up against in a loving container. Both programs include healing meditations to soothe the heart and soul after or during a battle with chronic symptoms.
ENDOMETRIOSIS: HOW WE MOVE FORWARD
The current beliefs around endometriosis in the conventional medical world are disempowering. No cure essentially means no hope.
But there are women all over the world who have fully recovered from endometriosis by applying protocols that I outline here. Healing is possible, it’s just uncommon as most women listen to the mainstream paradigm rather than the alternative and holistic healing movements.
As more women discover truths and rediscover their power, they stand as examples for all of us about the possible freedom and the thriving we were all meant to experience in this life.
God never planned for humanity to be sick and limited. It’s my mission to help eradicate chronic illness for as many women as I can so that our right to live healthfully can be realized no matter what comes our way.
To your health and peace,
